older machines' rubber wheels lose tackiness, and don't drag cards as effectivelyĪll the automated ones I've seen have the same issues plus.

AUTOMATIC CARD SHUFFLER DOESN T WORK MANUAL

  • Kem and other solid plastic cards don't grip right - increased flipping, and more manual downpressure required.
  • In other words, 110# cardstock won't work well, as home cutting results in being too thick to work.
  • can't handle anything that's not "standard height" - it'll do bridge and poker decks of the 3.5" tall variety, but it won't do larger cards, as they get stuck, nor smaller, as they don't stack up in the center bay.
  • cards can get scratched on the metal surfaces.
  • some cards end up face up - I've averaged 1 face-up per 3 shuffles or so.
  • These particular ones both use a wheel to throw cards into the central bay from two elevated bays. and are the only ones I've much experience with, having owned two. The simplest are the hand cranked gravity fed multi-wheel versions. Hand shuffling has been accepted by casinos and players for years.Mechanical shufflers come in several types. It's totally random, and each card has an equal chance of ending up at any position in the deck, unlike a conventional hand shuffle.īut again, all of those options are fine for a home game.

AUTOMATIC CARD SHUFFLER DOESN T WORK GENERATOR

It has a random number generator and takes each card, 1 by 1, generates a random number between 1 and 52, and puts the card into that corresponding slot. It doesn't do X number of shuffles, like a dealer would or like that shuffletech does. One reason (there are a few reasons) the DeckMate's are so expensive is because they are a true random number generator. That shuffletech is the same way - It is mechanically mimicking a hand shuffle.

It has a higher chance of ending up in the same area of the deck each time than it does otherwise. The chance of the top card ending up on the bottom of the deck is definitely not 1 in 52, like a true random shuffle would be. Which, IMO, also isn't truly randomized in the sense that whatever card is on the top of the deck when shuffling starts has a much smaller chance of ending up, say, on the bottom of the deck (if you think about the shuffles and follow the top card through each shuffle, you'll see). And in a casino, they do 2 riffles, 1 strip, then 1 riffle - In that order. I’ll let you guys know how the shuffler works out after a while and post some home pics. Is that ethically ok with you guys to buy something used that could’ve been stolen but you have no way to know since it’s not serialized?ĮDIT TO ADD: actually, I’m done contributing to the derailing of this thread.

AUTOMATIC CARD SHUFFLER DOESN T WORK SERIAL

But they don’t come serial numbered from the manufacturer. I’ve also bought used things like Snap On tools on Craigslist. I guess it’s fine to support the drug industry by smoking weed or trying coke, but you draw the line at (supposedly) supporting meth heads by buying shuffler.

So, statistically, I know you guys are in here. Yet, more than half of all adults have tried illegal drugs at some point.

AUTOMATIC CARD SHUFFLER DOESN T WORK SERIAL NUMBER

You guys are too cynical.Īlso, LOL to the people who use the excuse of not buying things without a serial number because you’d be supporting meth heads. Some of them have to do with contractual reasons. I’ve worked in the casino industry and there are reasons why a serial number would be removed when it transfers hands, aside from it being stolen. And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with buying this shuffler. I’m just saying not having a serial number doesn’t automatically mean it’s stolen. I’m not condoning buying stolen property. Then they’d have to prove I had knowledge it was stolen when I bought it. For me to be charged for anything criminal, first police would have to prove mine is stolen and somehow figure out the serial number of mine. It’s circumstantial that there’s no serial number at best. We are all entitled to have our own opinions though, and that’s just mine. But why would you when somebody like Rye Park can service it for a fraction of the cost, and it’s already out of warranty anyways, even if it had a serial number?Īnd no, almost no casino will buy a single shuffler, esp an older one, from a random guy off the street. I would buy a TV or something without a serial number if the price was right, unless I knew for a fact it was stolen.Īlso, I didn’t say you COULDNT send it back to Bally for service. It’s not proof of receiving stolen property just because the shuffler doesn’t have a serial number. And no I wouldn’t buy important things like cars with no VIN (because I couldn’t get it insured) or a gun (for obvious reasons), but something as trivial as a shuffler doesn’t matter IMO. I know the reasons why people don’t usually buy things without a serial number. I knew a bunch of people would get flustered by my post and lecture.
